It is advertised for $1000 and well worth every penny. What really sold me on this display was the resolution. The monitor on the right of my u2711 is a Viewsonic vp191b which while it has a quick response time for its generation of monitors, was to low resolution for me.
Some people complain about the response time(6ms) being an issue on this monitor, but I really haven’t noticed any problems except load times on some menus in games. It keeps up with every bluray movie I throw at it, and wants more. I cant move around in Maya fast enough to slow this monitor down, just my computer.
When you have a monitor like this, your not some amature anymore who can keep the default color & brightness settings. I find myself adjusting my settings through the on-screen heat activated buttons all the time. The menus are easy to navigate and the advanced version really makes the experience much better.
Connectivity was something I enjoyed supremely with the unheard of amount of DVI and VGA supported by my VP191b back in its day, but that’s nothing compared to the U2711. I currently have my desktop hooked up through DVI and my Gamecube on component. The side connetions of 2 USB ports and a card reader really top it off making this monitor a jack of all trades. I especially like the fact that you can choose to plug in what you need as opposed to having one massive cable connect everything to your computer.
This monitor is amazing, go buy one and never look back.
